Transportation

In the Above, getting around can be tricky. Each Above island is separated by massive voids and your elytra wont work. Fortunately there are many ways of getting around.

Footpaths​

Throughout the Above islands are walking paths. While on these paths, you will get a slight movement speed buff. Does this also apply to ridden horses?

Gateways​

At the edges of islands are gateways that connect to a similar portal across the gap between islands. Each gateway has a material block above it which indicates the destination.

Horses​

At the stables on the spawn island, and elsewhere in the Above, you can lease a horse to help you move around. You will need to give the stablemaster 1 Titanshard as a deposit and a horse will spawn with random colored armor. Horses are bound to the player that got it.

Once you are finished you can return the horse to any stable and get your deposit back.

Failure to return the horse will result in needing to ring the Bell of Shame before another horse can be leased.

Abandoned horses can be returned to a stablemaster by another player for a partial return of the original deposit.

Ancient Mineshafts​

Around the Above are a series of interconnected, non-euclidean mineshafts. Upon entering their mazelike halls, players may become momentarily disoriented and find themselves exiting the mines far from where they entered.

Below the village is a hub area with many passageways. Each bears indication of a material block corresponding to its ultimate destination. These passageways are unlocked per-player and allow fast travel between islands.

In the hub, unlocked pathways have a sparkle effect on the lantern. Unlocking all 16 will grant the Need name of advancement advancement.

Sunken Tunnels​

Many islands also have a cave filled with water that leads to a dead end with a bubbling conduit. Interacting with the conduit will transport players nearby into an underwater hub area.

In the hub area there are many paths, each with a material block indicating their ultimate destination. Just like the Ancient Mineshaft shortcuts, the sunken tunnel shortcuts must be unlocked per-player.

Unlocking all 12? sunken tunnel shortcuts will grant the Need name of advancement advancement.

Other ways​

Chorus fruit and ender pearls will work in some, but not all, places of the Above. Because you are in adventure mode you may get stuck and need a Mod to get you unstuck so caution is recommended.
